Singing In the Rain

This past week we had quite the random rain storm. It was sunny most of the day and at about 7:30, it started to down-poor rain. Trevor thought it would be fun to let McCoy experience this beautiful storm for himself. We geared up with flip flops and a towel. McCoy had the funnest time out there and he loved every second. Singing In the Rain

This picture McCoy looks like he's not enjoying himself. It was kind of cold but nothing stops this kid from having a good time. I like how you can even see the rain drops falling in the sky--you may have to click on it so it gets larger to see what I'm talking about.

Splish Splash

 Trevor and McCoy had a blast together. I love seeing them play together and I love seeing how much Trevor loves McCoy. 

McCoy is officially a toddler, all 18 months worth. He's growing up so fast. He's entering the tantrum stage and he's really good at it. Some days are really hard since he still can't completely express himself. He's getting more and more talkative but still struggles saying actual words. Although the "cars," "ball," "mama," "dada," "binki," etc. do make us happy that he's talking, he still can't express his feelings and I think he gets frustrated because he can understand us and listens to us but can't talk back (I guess when I put it that way, I can't really complain:)) He has learned that pulling my finger or Trevor's finger does get us to go where he wants us to but the tantrums keep coming. 

We finally discovered that he has allergies and the doctor said we could give him half an allergy pill every day. It's actually been working and he's been much happier. Still some fits here and there but a lot better. 

Although there are the hard days, I can't imagine my life without McCoy and I love getting to share special moments with him everyday. Here's some videos of him enjoying my shoes. He's getting much better at walking in them and he continues to be fascinated. (Link Below) 

Mommy's Shoes

Today McCoy got a hold of a roll of quarters we had around the house for our wonderful quarter-operating washer and dryers. We started counting as we were putting them back in the paper roll after McCoy had dumped them all out onto the floor. He was actually loving it. He was entertained for at least 15 minutes. Then I got out his little piggy bank that we use to put our spare change in and let him play around with that. He wasn't trying to eat it, thank goodness, but he was learning slowly how to put it back into the piggy bank's little slot on back. So adorable...it's moments like these that I hope I never forget. Quite the week

This past week has been quite the experience. I thought I would share with everyone my experience this week and although I'm sure some of you already know the drama that happened, I still wanted to document it for my personal memory. (Side note: I don't have very many pictures for this entry. I'm sure when you get to the end of it, you'll be glad there's nothing visual for you to see besides how awesome I look when I'm drugged up and totally out of it. )

This past Tuesday (6/14) night at about 11:00 pm I my lower left side started to fill with protruding pain. My first thought was, "oh man, I shouldn't have eaten those beans." I really thought I just had gas. With those thoughts the pain started to move towards the middle of my abdomen and from there to my right side and up my right set of ribs, my chest and above my right collar bone. At this point I was convinced that this could merely be the worst case of gas bubbles I had ever experienced. There was no way it could be anything else since the pain was moving around in my abdomen. The pain still hadn't gone away by the time of 4:30am had arrived. At this point, I could no longer breath and started to hyperventilate. Trev and I were both at the point of having no idea what to do.

When I physically couldn't breath anymore because of the pain in my chest, Trev finally called 911. We were beginning to realize it had to be more than just gas. The paramedics showed up, gave me some pain meds, hooked my up to an IV and took me on one of the most expensive rides in the hospital's infamous ambulance. I kept trying to tell everyone that it must be gas. I didn't want to show up in the ER to have the doctor tell me it was just that. A few hours later of pain and irregular breathing, with a CT scan and lots of drugs, the doctor finally came to tell us what was wrong.

I had an ovarian cyst that ruptured and damaged a nearby artery and I was bleeding internally. My abdomen was filling up with the blood as we talked about the options I had to fix this problem. The only option that seemed the most logical was surgery. They admitted and prepped me for surgery. 2 hours later, I was all stitched up and brought to my room to recovery. I was pretty out of it that day. I don't remember much about that day except for the pain and the feeling of having no control over my body. The nurses were great. There wasn't enough room in the regular recovery so they admitted me into the pediatrics floor. It was fabulous, I pretty much got treated like a little kid. Exactly what I needed, if I do say so myself.

The nurses proceeded to explain to me what exactly happened during the surgery. They sliced open my stomach just like they would for a c-section, filled my abdomen up with air -so they could see what in the world was going on- stitched up the protruded artery, removed the cyst and then proceeded to remove the remaining blood that was causing all the pain. They told me they removed almost a litter of blood. I know a little graphic but now you all know that you don't want what I had :). During a lot of this explanation, there was mention of the Dr. removing my entire ovary...I about fainted...Don't worry, they cleared all that up. Sheesh, they scared the heck out of me. I guess it was some incorrect information and I still have all my lady parts:) Thank goodness! Here's a video that Trev took on day 2 at the hospital. (Link below) 

The Hospital

These are my awesome pictures Trevor took...Kind of pathetic how nasty I look. Trev just kept telling me that my bow looked pretty...his nice way of telling me that I've looked better:) Now that I can see the proof of how I looked, I don't blame him for saying such things.

The next day got a little better but then I had to face a lot of the financial issues. I finally came home on Thursday night. It was still tough and Trev was exhausted as well so that night was hard.

Trevor's mom, Traci, was sweet enough to watch McCoy during the entire thing. She kept him occupied enough that I could relax and recover.

Things have gotten a lot better since those few days. I can move almost as normal, the stitches are out, and I can pick up my little boy up again--kind of. I still have a lot of pain where the incision is but I am no longer short of breath and it doesn't take me 20 minutes to lay down.

It's been quite the week and hopefully we'll get a break from the hospitals for a while. I'm glad to be healthy again and I'm also very grateful for doctors that gave away a great portion of their lives to learn how to treat patients like me. How amazing it is that they know exactly what to do with such a complicated body. It's a miracle and I'm more than grateful for their expertise.

Mothers, daughters, girls and women...

I wish I would have seen this on or before Mother's Day but it is just as good now as it would have been then. This was sent to me from my father. I do love him and in honor to him as my earthly father and wishing him an early Father's Day, I wanted to also share this amazing video with all mothers out there that come across this blog. My heart goes out to all mothers out there, no matter what your situation is. My motherhood is still blooming but I cherish my simple moments in my great calling from my Heavenly Father. Enjoy! Splendid Memorial Day

Today was a very fun day off in honor of Memorial Day. We got to sleep in a little, cleaned out our spare closets, and got to spend some time with the family. Bowling was our first activity of the day. Here's a few pictures and videos to share our fun.

McCoy was so tried. Poor kid didn't get a nap. Here's a picture of him and his puckered lips when he fell asleep in the car. Trev says he sleeps like that all the time because he's just waiting for a kiss from his daddy:)

Today was a great day!  Glad to have a day off and be able to enjoy it with my two amazing boys! 

oh the wonderful world of baby einstein

I haven't been feeling the best the last few days. It's mostly been achy, head cold and absolutely no energy. I called in sick on Friday and I am so glad I did. It was nice to be able to rest and let my body take care of its self. But I'll be honest, there wasn't too much of that resting. McCoy was so happy to have me home and all day long he just wanted to play with me. He's learned how to get my attention and he's even discovered how to lift me up while I'm laying down. It's actually the cutest thing in the world. He'll climb up on me, legs straddling my chest, his arms will wrap around my neck-as if he is giving me a hug- and then he'll pull with all his might and strength. I can't help but to smile and just laugh at the little kid. This usually happens on a daily basis and he's even learned how to climb up on our bed in the morning to wake us up and make sure he get's his breakfast. After he successfully gets me up, he usually takes me by the finger and leads me to where he wants to go-most always the kitchen, right to the fridge. He tries so hard to just melt my heart at all times. The other morning, he even showed me specifically what he wanted for breakfast in the fridge--pickles! Can you believe it?!? Well I can, I love pickles and I guess so does McCoy. 

So since I have doing a lot of laying down the past few days, I have had to come up with something to keep McCoy occupied while I rest. Pretty much, I'm so grateful for the fact that Baby Einstein was invented. This is his favorite position while watching this amazing movie, we like to call the baby-sitter:)

He will sit on the couch for a little while but eventually he'll get down on the floor wanting to touch something that's on the screen and then get comfortable where he's at. It's the cutest thing ever!

Just Chillin'

I love you McCoy with all my heart...even when I'm not feeling the best, you still seem to bring a smile to my face. 

McCoy loves shoes. He always wants to put them on and walk around in them. Trevor took this a little while ago of McCoy finally being able to walk in daddy's flip flops. Enjoy.

This past weekend we got to make homemade cotton candy with Trev's family. It was seriously such a blast and we all got to enjoy amazing cotton candy sponsered by the Hobson family. Thanks guys! 

Trevor made this cotton candy cone for me. He did a pretty good job and it's HUGE!! Wish you all could have been there. 

a very belated post

It's taken me some time to post on this very big event in our family because I was waiting to get some pictures to share. I am so proud and excited to share this amazing milestone in our lives.

We've got a college graduate.

I am so so so proud of my hubby! I can't believe he actually graduated. We were so close to giving up this past summer. He had been going to school for such a long time and still had so much more ahead of him. Trevor was getting so frustrated especially because school is probably his least favorite thing to spend his time doing. He went to a councilor that finally helped him decide what was best for him and his personality. He came home that afternoon and told me that he was going to graduate in the spring of 2011. I can't believe it's here and I am so proud and excited that he did it! He even got higher than a B in every single class since his major change while even taking 18 credits in the fall semester.

I got some pictures from Traci over this past weekend and there are some that I definitely couldn't help but to share.

Look how precious my little Coy Boy is! He is absolutely going to be daddy's little sports boy. He loves anything that spins and anything he can throw.

This picture just melts my heart. His adorable, innocent and chocolate-brown eyes are to die for. He's so sweet and so loving. He loves to give hugs and kisses. He's learned to be soft and sweet and every time it melts my heart...every single time!!

Family Pictures

Ruby is so sweet. Look at this pose. I couldn't help but to share this.

McCoy and Ruby love each other so much already. They play so well and I love seeing them interact and learn from each other. I hope they grow up to be best friends.

McCoy loves playing with other kids! He loves when he gets to play with his cousins. This picture makes me laugh so hard. That graduation weekend David and Traci were kind enough to watch the munchkins while we all got to go out to a movie. It's such a classic picture. They also had video of what was going on and it was hilarious. Ruby was hitting Beckham's head while he was saying soft over and over. Kaden was jumping of the desk and almost landed on McCoy once, haha, and David was laying flat on the ground playing "Air Plane" with all the kiddies. So adorable.

We also got to see our sweet sister-in-law, Brittany who's prego with a baby girl. The first grand child on David's side of the family. David has 5 boys and no girls so I'm excited to see how David does with a little girl. He still says he'll believe it's a girl when he sees it.

Happy Thursday

McCoy has been learning so much lately. He can now say about 10 words that we understand and has many other word that only he understands. He follows instructions and can understand what Trevor and I say to him. McCoy can identify almost all the parts of his face as well as his head, toes (which he can say as well), hands, fingers and belly is his favorite. No matter what he's doing, if you ask him, "McCoy, where's your belly?" He immediately responds by pulling his shirt up and squishing his stomach in with his hand as if his belly is some sort of jell-o.

Another thing that McCoy has been learning to do is feed himself. He really enjoys feeding himself, although it does take him a lot longer to accomplish the task, he does end up eating more-which is splendid. Trevor was having a hard time getting him to spoon things out of a bowl with out the bowl slipping around. I received this picture at work one day with Trevor's new invention.

McCoy has also discovered our utensil drawer in the kitchen. He's now tall enough and strong enough to open the drawer by himself and pull everything in that drawer out of it. His newest favorite utensil to play with is the pizza cutter. Of course, because it resembles a wheel. In fact, he even drives it around like it is a car. He loves it.

A few weeks ago, Trevor and McCoy went to a Rugby game. McCoy loves being outside and sometimes a little too much. He had already gotten enough sun for the day and it was really hot. Trevor was trying to come up with an idea to keep McCoy cool and happy. I laughed when I saw these pictures. The head band didn't make McCoy too happy but he actually liked the turban idea dad came up with when he got this shirt wet and rapped it on McCoy's head. But hey, at least it kept him cool and kind of out of the sun.

This is one of Trevor's many outfits that he puts on him...more like just adds to what he was wearing. The shorts are his pj shorts, the shoes are more like sock shoes, with no socks, his onesie is unbuttoned (we call it his barn door/flap/loin cloth....etc, when it's hanging out like that ) and then he's wearing his jacket on top of it all. On a regular basis, I usually come home to a little boy looking kind of homeless. Although Trevor doesn't have the best taste in what to put McCoy in, at least he is a willing father to make sure McCoy is always enjoying himself. They're always doing so many fun things. Trevor makes sure he's fed, had good naps and always bathed. McCoy and he have bonded so well in the past few months. They're inseparable little buddies now. I LOVE IT!!
